Joan Lee (Howard) Ziebol

Joan Lee Ziebol, nee Howard, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Friday, October 30, 2020 in her home at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 7 days. She was born April 23, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri to Hugh Frederick Howard and Leona Schulte Howard. Joan was united in marriage to George Ziebol in December of 1993 in St. Louis.

Joan was employed at Contigo Co., a plastics factory in Bridgeton and later in Home Health Care. She attended the Covenant Praise Church of God in Cuba for the last few years. Joan enjoyed volunteering for the local mission store and helping with Senior citizens. In her spare time, she loved working puzzles and watching movies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Leona Howard; her husband, George Ziebol; and one brother, Michael Howard.

She is survived by one daughter, Jeanna Van Slyke of O’Fallon, MO; three grandchildren, Robert Van Slyke of Lake St. Louis, MO, Christopher Van Slyke of Lonedell, MO and Christina (Jay) Barnes of Sullivan, MO; three great-grandchildren, Bently Van Slyke, Drake Barnes and Harley Barnes; four step-daughters, Kathy (Jay) Key of Harrison, AR, Susan (Ron) Martin of Bullhead City, AZ, Cindy (Rick) Martin and Merry Ziebol all of Steelville, MO; seven step-grandchildren; fifteen step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Regina Howard; other family; and friends.

The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. The Family asks that anyone attending the visitation or funeral please wear a mask.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, November 5, 2020 with Pastor Jeremiah Wilson officiating. Special music of "In the Garden", "Go Rest High" and "Blessings" was played. Memories were shared by family and friends.

Committal prayer and interment were at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020 in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO with Bill Bennett officiating.

Honored to be casket bearers were Christina Barnes, Jay Barnes, Christopher Van Slyke and Jeanna Van Slyke.

The Ziebol Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
