Joe Ed Stites of Steelville, Missouri, age 77 years, 5 months and 25 days, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at his home. Joe was born October 14, 1947 in Steelville and graduated from Steelville High School.
In 1985, Joe was united in marriage to Joyce Parrett in Steelville and to this union, they combined four children.
Joe was a member of the Cherryville First Baptist Church for several years. He was employed with the Missouri State Highway Dept. and retiring in 1992 after 30 years.
He enjoyed gigging, bowling, coon hunting, talking on his CB Radio and having fish frys with Al Beers and the boys. He loved his family and spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winford and Dovie Oxendine Stites; brothers, Cecil Stites, Lane (Deloris) Stites, Bob Stites and Bill Stites; sister, Ruby Stites; great-grandson, Bryer Mason; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Warren and Argie Gibbs Parrett; and one brother-in-law, Jimmy Parrett.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Joyce, of 39 years; son, Heath (Amanda) Stites of Desloge, MO, daughter, Stacy (Ronnie) Mason of Steelville, MO; two step-children, Christopher (Leah) Briggs of Hallsville, MO and Deborha Mason of Steelville, MO; 9 grandchildren, Philip Stites, Abigail Hogan, Carter Mason, Cami Mason, Sierra Briggs, Warren Mason, Joshua (Mickinze Koppelmann) Mason, Zachariah Mason and Colten (Ashley) Mason; 4 great-grandchildren, Hayden, Logan, Payten, and Sophia Mason; sister Shirley (Mike) Plank of Steelville, MO; three brothers-in-law, Jerry (Becky) Parrett, Gary (Carolyn) Parrett and Joe (Susan Turner) Parrett.
The Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Beers and Rev. Doug Windell officiating. Special music of "Scars in Heavaen", "God Today" and "Go Rest High" was played.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Cherryville Baptist Cemetery.
Honored to be pall bearers were Warren Mason, Joshua Mason, Zachariah Mason, Colten Mason, Philip Stites, Carter Mason with Hayden Mason as honorary.
Memorials may be given to the Steelville Food Pantry or Cherryville Baptist Cemetery. Envelopes are available at the funeral home for the memorials.
