John William Breeden, Jr., of Steelville, Missouri passed away Friday, January 17, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Washington, at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 8 days. He was born July 9, 1937 in St. Louis to John William Breeden, Sr. and Eileen Robinson Breeden.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Davis and to this union two daughters were born. He later married Connie Gorski on June 24, 1995 in St. Louis, MO.
John was employed for twenty years at Krey Packing Co. and later went to work at the Hazelwood School District in St. Louis retiring after twenty-five years.
He and Connie bought some land and a home outside Steelville in 1996 and then moved to the area in 1999 where they became very active in the community.
He was a faithful member of the Steelville First Assembly of God Church for the last twenty-four years. John loved to hunt whether it was deer, turkey or squirrel and enjoyed his time fishing for bass or catfish.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eileen Breeden; one daughter, Sondra Breeden; two brothers, Don Breeden and Tom Breeden.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 30 years, Connie Breeden of Steelville, MO; children, Teresa (Joe) Chaney of Old Monroe, MO; Kimberly Harrison of San Antonio, TX; Kenneth (Colleen) Kammerer of Granite City, IL and Kevin (Gretchen) Kammerer of St. Charles, MO; 9 grandchildren, Dylan and Clayton Harrison, Sarah Garcia, Madison DeLaCruz, Rachel Landgraf, Jacob Chaney, Brooke and Wyatt Kammerer and Darion Ragsdale; 6 great-grandchildren, Levi Harrison, Katelyn, Alex, Ellie and Lucas Landgraf and Kaiden Ragsdale; one sister, Jan (Doug Jardon) Milton of Steelville, MO; one brother; Jerry (Mary) Breeden; other relatives; and friends.
The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the Steelville First Assembly of God Church, 29 Church St., Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "He Lives in Me" was sung by Bill Freeman, Bro. Jerry on guitar and Shelley Beers. Other music of "Go Rest High" and "Amazing Grace" was sung by Bro. Jerry and Shelley Beers with Bro. Jerry on guitar and piano.
The Family chose cremation as the final disposition.
Memorials in John’s name may be given to the Steelville Food Pantry.
