John Michael Schrum

John Michael Schrum of Steelville Missouri passed away Friday, November 19, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri at the age of 63 years, 8 months and 29 days. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri to William Ralph Schrum and Helen Marie Sieberg Schrum.

In May of 1977 in Cahokia, IL, he was united in marriage to Beverly Ort. He served in the Missouri National Guard as a Staff Sgt., retiring after twenty years. John loved fishing, hunting and traveling to national parks. He always enjoyed shopping at any nearby Walmart when traveling.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Schrum.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Beverly Schrum of Steelville, MO; five daughters, Tiffany Schrum of Steelville, MO, Jennifer Jackson of Leasburg, MO, Amanda (Paul) Konrad of St. Charles, MO, Brittany (Lincoln) May of Collinsville, IL and Brandy Schrum of Cahokia, IL; one son, Jared Schrum of Steelville, MO; mother, Helen Schrum of French Village, MO; two brothers, Bill Schrum and Joe Schrum; three sisters, Malinda Fudge, Cheryl Toenjes and Juli Schrum; eight grandchildren; Kiya Jackson, Cassie Louise May, Logan May, Dominic Hill, Penelope Konrad, Tiernan Westerhold, Mei`belle Chang and Alexandra Payne; other relatives; and friends.

The Family received friends from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Wendy Downing officiating. Special music of "When I Get Where I'm Going", "My Boy", "Fishing in the Dark" and "I Drive Your Truck" was played. Memories were shared by family and friends.

Full military honors by the U.S. Army was held immediately after the service.

The Family chose cremation as the final disposition.
