Joyce Lucille (Farrar) Mounce

Joyce Lucille Mounce, nee Farrar, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 in Owensville, Missouri at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 8 days. She was born April 18, 1943 in Steelville to Raymond and Bessie Gregory Farrar.

She attended and graduated from Draughon's Business School in Springfield. Joyce was united in marriage to Dorman Mounce and to this union two sons were born. She was employed at Missouri Home Health Care for a few years and also became a Tupperware dealer in later years.

Joyce was a faithful member of Steelville First Baptist Church until her health declined. She sang in the choir and always enjoyed all of the church’s activities, especially the women’s Bible studies. Joyce also loved to visit and talk with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Bessie Farrar; three brothers, Ralph, Richard and Jim Farrar; and sister, Betty Rulo.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Dorman Mounce of Steelville, MO; two sons, Darrell Mounce of Cuba, MO and Dennis Mounce of Steelville, MO; one granddaughter, Allie Humbre; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Lydia and Desiree’; other relatives; and friends.

A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Rick Haggett officiating. Special music of "In the Garden", "Blessed Assurance" and "The Old Rugged Cross" was played. Memories were shared by sons, Darrell and Dennis.

Joyce’s wishes were to have her body donated to science.
