Linda Green Obituary

Linda Fay Green, nee Hanna, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 in her home at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 4 days. She was born December 10, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri to Eugene and Mabel Ballard Hanna. On December 19, 1964 in Cherryville, Linda was united in marriage to Daniel Green and to this union they raised two daughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Mabel Hanna; and one sister, Debbie Aksoy.

She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of almost fifty-six years, Dan Green of Steelville, MO; two daughters, Kelly Lynn (Randy) Hartley of Humansville, MO and Amber Lynnette (Joe) Speeney of Basking Ridge, NJ; four sisters, Brenda (David) Rogers of MS, Edna Center of Cuba, MO, Edie Vowell of Philadelphia, MS and Sondra (Greg) Mischke of Steelville, MO; one brother, Edward "Butch" (Michelle Cobb) Hanna of Hillsboro; MO; four grandchildren, Natalie (Jeff) Pyatt, Aaron Hinch, Kelly Hartley and Daniel Speeney; five great-grandchildren, Chloe Light, Daniel Light, Kayla Light, Brycen Post and Madison Valley; one step-granddaughter, Sara Hartley; three step-great-granddaughters, Orion Hartley Smith, Harley Hartley Smith and Rhea Sein; nieces, nephews, other relatives; and friends.

Linda attended Rivers of Life Church for several years and was a beloved youth group Sunday school teacher. She was on the selective service board. Linda had been employed as the office manager for the Crawford Mirror and a floor sales rep lead for Perkins Lumber Company and later retired after working 20 years as a clerk for the US Postal Service. Early on, she had given up an opportunity for a music career to raise her daughters as they were her first priority in life.

Linda was an accomplished seamstress, but especially enjoyed making quilts and working with beads to make necklaces and other jewelry. She loved traveling and enjoyed her visits to Ireland, England, Hawaii and Scotland. Most of all she loved being with her family.

The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2020 with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. The eulogy was read by son-in-law, Joe Speeney. Special music of "Knowing What I know about Heaven" and "Heaven Song" was played. Other music of "Learning to Dance in the Rain" was sung and played on guitar by Rev. Bob Coleman.

The Family has requested that everyone who arrives for the visitation or funeral to please wear a mask during those times. Masks will be available at the funeral home if anyone does not have one.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Martin-Trask Cemetery, Cherryville, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Edward Hanna, Randy Hartley, Joe Speeney, Ben Hanna, Chris Dildine and Marty Calkins.

The Green Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
