Linda Mae McKellips, nee Chandler, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Thursday, September 17, 2020 in her home at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 10 days. She was born August 7, 1949 in Sullivan, Missouri to Floyd and Goldie Stroup Chandler. In 1972, Linda was united in marriage to Delmar McKellips in Murphysboro, Illinois and to union they had five children.
Linda attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She spent several hours volunteering for hospice with different organizations and volunteering at the St. James Veterans Home. She had a green thumb and loved having a flower garden and vegetable gardening. She enjoyed being a caretaker of animals along with fishing, crocheting and hunting rabbits and squirrels. Some of her fondest memories were snow sledding down the hills with her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Goldie Stroup Chandler; a daughter, Lawanda McKellips; brothers, Kevin Dunn and Richard Chandler; sister-in-law, Gloria Stroup; brother-in-law, Robert Callahan.
She is survived by four children, Michael McKellips of Cuba, MO, Michelle “Micki” (Alan) White of Coulterville, IL, Matthew McKellips of Bourbon, MO and Melinda McKellips of Cuba, MO; brothers, Jim Stroup, John (Cindy) Chandler, Robert Chandler and Kenneth (Sharon) Dunn; two sisters, Carol Callahan and Virginia “Ginny” (Rod) Klepatz; nine grandchildren, Amanda, Hannah, Ben, Emma, Jordan, Aubrie, Matt, Zack and Madi; one great-grandchild, Logan; other relatives; and friends.
The Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
The Family chose cremation as the final disposition.
