Lindel Valerie Asher, nee White, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023 in her home at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 9 days. She was born November 15, 1942 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Jesse David White and Josephine Pearl Payne White. Lindel was united in marriage to Ronald Edward Asher on December 15, 1962 in St. Louis and to this union 3 sons and 2 daughters were born.
Lindel graduated from high school in Houston, MO. After high school, she was employed for Bell Telephone in St. Louis. In the early 1980’s she moved to Steelville and worked for Brown Shoe Company. Lindell was of the Baha’i Faith. She enjoyed taking rides throughout the community and loved being with her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Josephine White; her husband of 45 years, Ron Asher; daughter, Rebecca Gillam; brother, Forrest White; sister, Joyce Detmer; and brothers-in-laws and sisters in-laws,
She will be greatly missed by her three sons, Rodney (Dena) Asher of Billings, MO, Roger (Rebecca) Asher of Bradenton, FL and Russell (Jill) Asher of Poinciana, FL; one daughter, Tonya Asher of Steelville, MO; son-in-law, Donald Gillam of IL; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn (Jim) Vandivort of Richwoods, MO; sister-in-law, Valera White of Foley, MO; brother-in-law, Charles Detmer of Troy, MO; numerous sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws; many nieces, nephews; other relatives; and friends.
The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "Oceans of Life", "Light on in the Kitchen", "I'll Fly Away" and "Amazing Grace", Cherokee Version was played. Memories were shared by Heather Wallen. Prayers were shared by friends, Bruce Allmon and Julietta Hebenstreit.
The Funeral Service was Live Streamed on the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home Facebook Page.
Committal prayer and Interment will be in the Steelville Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to the funeral home for funeral expenses.
