Lisa Renee' (Jones) Hughes

Lisa Renee' Hughes, nee Jones, of Steelville, Missouri passed away May 9, 2024 at Phelps Health in Rolla at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 23 days. She was born October 17, 1963 in St. Louis, Missouri and raised by her parents, Luci Callahan Martin and Jerry Martin.

Lisa graduated from Cuba High School in 1982. After high school, Lisa attended Hickey’s College and worked as a nurses’ aid and wanting to concentrate on health care and helping as a caregiver. She didn’t get to finish school due to an accident and became disabled. However, that did not discourage her from volunteering to help others and animals. If she saw a stray animal her mission was to find his or her owner and take care of the animal while doing so. She loved any animal and had her own favorites, Sadie, her dog of 13 years and her beloved horse that she bought as a rescue animal. She took care of her and saw her health change for the better and loved riding “Ho.” She also helped at local missions.

She also enjoyed taking care of house plants, played the drums and loved drinking coffee.

Most of all she had a strong faith in God and felt very blessed.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Alice Kallmbah, her father, Jerry Martin; brothers and sister, Steven Jones, Dave Turnbough and Coleen Jones

She will be sadly missed by her son, John Seitz of Cuba, MO; daughter, Jamie (wife, Aerie) Houghes of Denver, CO; her mother, Luci Martin of Steelville, MO; her brothers and sisters, Spencer (partner Chris Mercer) Jones of Steelville, MO, Gina Tetley of Herman, MO, Teri Turnbough of Cuba, MO, Jeryl (Michael) Light of Steelville, MO,  Sonny (Sharon) Turnbough of Cherryville, MO, Tracy (Mark) Garrison, Randy (Cindy) Lewis of Steelville, MO,  Pauline Jones of S.C., Robbie Ann (Steve) Pratt of CA, Stephanie (Bob) Gibbs of FL; special niece, Kim Williams of Cuba, MO; friends, Tammy (Doug) Nix, Reigel Capen, and Teresa Holt all of Cuba, MO and Jeff Fox of Steelville, MO; beloved nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.

The Family received friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024 with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Memories were shared by her son, John. Special music of "Shine", "One of Those Nights" and "Turn the Page" was played.

The Family chose cremation as the final disposition.

The Hughes Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
