Margaret Lee (Conaway) Turnbough

Margaret Lee Turnbough, nee Conaway, of Owensville, Missouri, formerly of Cherryville, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Stonebridge Nursing Home in Owensville at the age of 97 years, 5 months and 8 days.

She was born February 15, 1927 in Dillard, MO to Ausie Conaway and Myrtle Hicks Conaway. On March 2, 1946 in Viburnum, she was united in marriage to Vondal Turnbough and to this union one son, Rondal Lee was born.

Margaret was of the Christian faith.

For many years, she helped along-side her husband in his logging business. After the death of her husband, she went to work in Cuba at Convey Heel Shoe Company and later retired after several years from Lyn-Flex Shoe Company in Owensville, MO.

She loved to make quilts and made several of them with love for all of her family. Margaret also loved to embroider pillow cases.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Ausie and Myrtle Conaway; her husband, Vondal Turnbough; son, Rondal Lee Turnbough; one brother, Ines Conaway; one sister, Eula (Ralph) Gillam and brother-in-law, Lex Ogle; and grandson, Max Hicks.

She will be lovingly missed by her grandchildren, Sherri (Tony) Buschmeyer of Owensville, MO, Karen (Darrell) Roskowske of Warsaw, MO and Dina (Keith) Bruner of St. James, MO; daughter-in-law, Lendia (Harvey) Smith of St. James, MO; numerous great-grandchildren; other relatives; and friends.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024 at the Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville, MO with Elder Roger Vincent officiating.

Interment was in the Freeman Cemetery.

The Turnbough Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
