Marie Katherine (Theurer) DeLassus

Marie Katherine DeLassus, nee Theurer, of St. Louis, formerly of Steelville, Missouri passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the age of 105 years, 8 months and 16 days.

Marie was born in St. Louis to George and Marie Theurer. On April 9, 1945, she was united in marriage to James E. Delassus in Seattle, WA and to this union three children were born.

After retirement, James and Marie moved to Steelville for a number of years. They enjoyed all of the friends that they made while living there. They both looked forward to traveling with the bank club through the years. Marie also loved to be outside in her garden whether it was vegetables or flowers she was growing. Even in the next few years after moving back to St. Louis, she loved to be out in the sun on beautiful days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Marie Theurer; her husband, James DeLassus; and her brother, Norman Theurer.

She is survived by her two sons, Paul (Mary) DeLassus of Washington state and Richard (Barbara, significant other) DeLassus of St. Louis, MO: one daughter, Kathryn DeLassus of Auxvasse, MO; three grandchildren, Gregory (Liz) DeLassus, Jean Paul DeLassus and Jason DeLassus; three great-grandchildren, Chanselor DeLassus, Andrew DeLassus and Marie DeLassus; other relatives; and friends.

The Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Crestwood, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Hans Fine officiating.

Interment will be held at 1:15 p.m.  in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marie’s name may be given to Lutheran Missions World Relief and Human Care.
