Michael "Mike" Howard Hutson

Michael “Mike” Howard Hutson of Steelville, Missouri, age 57 years, 6 months and 19 days, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 31, 1968 in Rolla, MO to Howard and Marion (Eaton) Hutson.

A proud graduate of Steelville High School, Class of 1986, Mike went on to become a skilled union carpenter affiliated with the St. Louis Local 1839 for more than 30 years. Earlier in life, he embraced the thrill of bull riding, competing in mud runs with his son, boating and camping. 

Mike (aka Woodcock) had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and was a member of the Midwest Goodman Fox Hunters Association, Gopher Hill Coyote Hunters, and Ozark Highland Hounds. 

On February 14, 2025, Mike married the love of his life, Tammy Yancey, after thirteen wonderful years together. Side by side, they built a life filled with simple joys - embracing each other’s hobbies, sipping coffee together on the front porch, and just enjoying the comfort of being with one another.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marion Hutson.

Mike will be deeply missed by all who loved him including his wife, Tammy Hutson of the home; his son, Clayton Hutson of Cherryville, MO; his daughter, Randi Livesay of Steelville, MO; and his father, Howard Hutson of Cherryville, MO. He is also remembered by his brother-in-law Charles “Kenny” (Lori) Brown of Bryant, AR; sisters-in-law Melissa Brown of Raleigh, NC; Tina (Dan) Brinkley, Terri (Rick) Livesay, and Taleta Diaz—all of Steelville; Dear friend to Gerald Earhart and Tony Kaltenbach along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

Following Mike’s wishes, he chose cremation as his final disposition. While there will be no formal services, there will be a private gathering at a later date.
