Mildred “Millie” Naoma Conaway, nee Bolling, was born Friday, March 6, 1925 in Davisville, Missouri to Basil Bolling and Golden, nee Eaton, Bolling and passed away Friday, January 10, 2025 at Steelville Senior Living at the age of 99 years, 10 months and 4 days.
She was united in marriage to Lawrence Frank Conaway on September 5, 1942 by a Justice of the Peace in St. Louis, Missouri. Since 1955, she and Lawrence had made Cherryville their home and enjoyed over sixty years together.
Millie was a housewife and helped on the farm; she took pride in keeping a spotless house; cooking from scratch, some of her favorites were homemade angle biscuits with brown beans and a poor man's cake or homemade strawberry cobbler. Millie also canned vegetables and made homemade jelly. She enjoyed mending, gardening and reading her Bible.
She was a born-again believer and always raised her hands during song service to worship. Millie was baptized and enjoyed attending church, she believed in paying her tithes and being honest.
Millie was quite the cut-up and one of the sweetest ladies you would every meet!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Basil and Golden Bolling; husband, Lawrence Conaway; five brothers, Johnny Bolling, Gene Bolling, Pat Bolling, Bob Bolling and Bill Bolling; two sisters, Wilma (Joe) Baker and Charlene Clayton; brothers and sisters in-law, Luther (Emilie) Conaway, Noel (Velma) Conaway, Clyde (Geneva Green), Irvin Conaway, Jr.; Paul Conaway; Leo Brown.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her two sons, Richard Conaway and wife Beverly of Steelville, MO and Rick Conaway and wife Phyllis of Cherryville , MO; sister, Mary Conaway of Cherryville, MO: sisters-in-law, Mildred Conaway of Cuba, MO, Lorraine Brown of Owensville, MO and Janet Bolling of Sullivan, MO; brother-in-law Elbert (Sonny) Clayton of Summerfield, Illinois; 3 grandsons ,Rodney Conaway and wife Fern of Steelville, MO, Gary Ulsh, Jr. and wife Sherrie of Sullivan MO, Josh Joly and wife Anne of Rogers, AR; great-grandchildren, Brittany Conaway and Drew Wishon of Steelville, MO, Daulton Conaway and wife Taylor of Steelville, MO, Caleb Joly, of Rogers AR, Dylan Carr and Hailey Truitt of Bentonville, AR, Evan Carr and Jacob Carr of Ozark, AL; great-great-grandchildren, Michael Lefebvre of St. James, MO, Raelynn Salas of Steelville, MO, Rutledge Conaway of Cherryville, MO, Mary Jane Carr of Bentonville, AR, Jayden, Kayden and Rayden Carr of Ozark, AL; also remaining nieces, nephews, other relatives, the staff at Steelville Senior Living and many friends.
The Family received friends on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. until service time at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Harrison Brown officiating. Special music of "Farther Along", "Eastern Gate" and "In the Sweet By and By" was sung by Bob and Carol Coleman with Shirley Brown as accompanist on piano.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Cherryville Baptist Church Cemetery, Cherryville, MO.
Honored to be serving as casket bearers were Rod Conaway, Gary Ulsh, Josh Joly, Brittany Conaway, Daulton Conaway, Dylan Carr, Michael Lefebvre, Raelynn Salas and Caleb Joly.
The Conaway Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
