Phyllis Ann Souders, nee Worley, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Steelville Senior Living Center at the age of 80 years and 13 days. She was born February 4, 1944 in St. Louis to Lawrence Reco Worley and Thelma Gladine Eaton Worley.
Phyllis grew up at Cherryville, MO and graduated from Cherryville High School in the Class of 1962. On December 11, 1965 at the First Baptist Church in Cuba, Phyllis was united in marriage to Ralph Souders.
She was a member of the Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary for some time and Steelville Eastern Star for many years. Phyllis and Ralph enjoyed traveling over the years.
Phyllis was employed at the Crawford County Court House in County Clerk’s Office for 17 years and afterwards worked for FCNB as the head bookkeeper for 23 years retiring in 2006.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Thelma Worley; her husband of 58 years, Ralph Souders; her sister, Margaret (John) Turnbough; brother-in-law, Morris Williams; niece, Tammy Hoskins and cousin, David Worley.
She will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law, Lois Williams of Columbia, MO; nephews, Darrin (Deanne) Williams and Keith Hoskins all of Columbia, MO; special cousin, Fern (Jerry) Setzer of Cherryville, MO; other cousins, Shirley Worley Eickholt of Lee Summit, MO, Donna Worley Atkinson of Rogersville, MO, Mary Conaway and Mildred Conaway both of Steelville, MO; other relatives; and friends.
The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "Amazing Grace' was played and sung by Rev. Jerry Beers. Other music of "Take My Hand Precious Lord" and "Precious Memories was played.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery.
Honored to casket bearers were Rodney Mitchell, Todd Mitchell, Ken Halbert, Johnnie Ransom, Mike Riley and Frankie Todd with Keith Hoskins as honorary.
The Souders Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
