Rebecca Lynn (Asher) Gillam

Rebecca Lynn Gillam, nee Asher, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Friday, August 6, 2021 in Cuba Manor at the age of 55 years, 2 months and 13 days. She was born in Sullivan, Missouri to Ronald Edward Asher and Lindel White Asher. In 1994, she was united in marriage to Don Gillam and to this union they had two children.

Rebecca graduated from Licking High School. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service and was a city carrier for St. James. She had attended the Jehovah’s Witness Church in Sullivan.

Rebecca loved the outdoors and especially along the riverside. She enjoyed fishing, kayaking and hiking. Rebecca also enjoyed listening to Sammy Hagar music. Most of all she loved her family and being called “Grandma.”

She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Edward Asher.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Andrew Gillam and Ashley (Larry) McMillian all of Steelville, MO; her mother, Lindel Asher of Steelville, MO; three brothers, Rodney (Dena) Asher of Billings, MO, Roger (Becky) Asher of Sparta, MO and Russell (Jill) Asher of Dacula, Georgia; one sister, Tonya Asher of Steelville, MO; one grandson, Harrison and one on the way; other relatives; and friends.

The Family received friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

A Memorial service was held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 with Rev. Terry Hogan officiating. Special music of "Heaven was needing a Hero", "Blue side of Heaven" and "Go Rest High" was played.

The Family chose cremation as the final disposition.

The Gillam Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
