Richard Ryerson Obituary

Richard Wesley Ryerson of Cherryville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2020 in St. Louis at the age of 60 years, 1 month and 10 days. He was born January 9, 1960 in Rolla, Missouri to Russell and Annie Harper Ryerson. On October 14, 1988 in Cherryville, Richard was united in marriage to Ellen Garrison.

Richard attended the Cherryville Church of God. He had a music minister license and dearly loved music and playing his guitar.  Richard also enjoyed his time he spent with Ellen in her ministry for over 30 years. He also enjoyed working in his garden. Most of all, he loved the times he spent with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Annie Ryerson; three brothers, Billy Wayne Ryerson, Vernon Ryerson and infant brother, Jimmy Ryerson; one sister, Rose Ryerson; parents-in-law, Hershel and Dessie Garrison; three brothers-in-law, Billy Humphrey, Jimmy Lee (Barbara) Garrison and Bill Garrison; former brother-in-law, Daniel Turner; and nephew-in-law, Jimmy Garrison.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of thirty-one years, Ellen Ryerson of Cherryville, MO; two sons, Shane (girlfriend, Molly Jackson) and Shawn (Beth) Ryerson of Steelville, MO; two daughters, Shajuana (friend, P.J. Sanders) of Cherryville, MO and Shanna Ryerson of Steelville, MO; twenty grandchildren, Shawn, Morgan, RJ, Jenna, Savannah, Silas, Ashton, Elaina, Clarence, Bryer, Hunter, Ellie, Shawna (Cody), RE, Annie, Dessie (Tyler), Austin, Jessie (Shanyn), Johny and Cassidy; five great-grandchildren, JJ, Alice, Ash, Mya, Evelyn and two on the way; son-in-law, Dennis Simpson, Jr.; two brothers, Russell Ryerson of Peoria, IL and Timothy Ryerson of Cuba, MO; three sisters, Betty Ryerson of Steelville, MO, Margaret Ryerson and Velma Humphrey both of Rolla, MO; two brothers-in-law, Clarence (Bonnie) Garrison of Steelville, MO and Orville (Pauline) Garrison of Joplin, MO; sister-in-law, Betty Garrison of Cherryville, MO.

The Family received friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Church of God in Cherryville, MO with Evangelist Ronnie Dean Raven officiating and Rev. Bob Coleman reading the obituary and prayer. Special music of "He Ain't Heavy, He's my Brother", "The Greatest Gift of All", "If you Could see me Now" and "Wish We were Here" was sung by Rev. Jerry Beers.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery with Pastor Clifford Bridgeman sharing memories, Rev. Orville Garrison reading scripture and Evangelist Ronnie Dean Raven sharing thoughts and prayers.

Honored to be casket bearers were Jesse Hemby, P.J. Sanders, Johny Simpson, Clarence Ryerson, Tim Ryerson and Tyler Martin with R.E. Setzer as honorary bearer.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home.
