Ronald "Ron" Poncet Obituary

Ronald “Ron” Aime Poncet of Steelville, Missouri passed away Monday, December 13, 2021 in the Cuba Manor at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 11 days. He was born October 2, 1942 in St. Louis to Marcel Eugene Poncet and Evelyn Mildred Burke Poncet. Ron was united in marriage to Judy Hutchings on May 1, 1965 in DeSoto, Missouri and to this union one son and two daughters were born.

Ron was a member of the St. Rose Lima Catholic Church in DeSoto, MO and served in the Missouri National Guard from 1964 to 1970. He was employed at Boeing in St. Louis for over 30 years retiring in 1995. After his retirement, he wanted to keep busy and became a substitute teacher and later a rural mail carrier out of Cuba.

He enjoyed the outdoors, raising cattle and also owning a couple of old cars, a 1930 Ford and a 1934 Ford. He also had a passion for Ford tractors, owning a few and using them on his farm.  

Ron loved being home with his family and spending special time with his grandkids. He also had a special dog, “Bonnie” who was very important to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcel and Evelyn Poncet; brother, David Poncet; grandson, Jamie Montgomery; and brother-in-law, Pasquale Baldetta.

Ron is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Judy, of Steelville, MO; one son, Greg (Julie) Poncet of St. Louis, MO; two daughters, Claudia (Jim) Montgomery of Cuba, MO and Laura (Wes) Whitley of Spring, Texas; brother, Jerry Poncet of St. James, MO; sister, Ruth Ann Baldetta of CA; five grandchildren, Jonathan (Cynthia) Weber, Charli (David) Gebke, Jaclyn (Tony) Campos, Jenna Montgomery and Hunter Poncet; six great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Gebke, Eli Weber, Ezra Weber, Raegan Gebke, Owen Carey and Cyrus Montgomery; other relatives; and friends.

The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Haggett officiating. Special music of "What a Wonderful World" and "Amazing Grace" was sung and played on piano by Cheryl Haggett.

Committal prayer and interment with Full Military Honors by the U.S Army was in the Cherryville First Baptist Church Cemetery, Cherryville, MO with Rev. Myron Couch officiating.

Honored to be casket bearers were Jerry Poncet, Hunter Poncet, Wes Whitley, Jimmy Montgomery, Jonathan Weber and Tony Campos.

Memorials in Ron’s name may be given to the Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Steelville Animal Shelter.
