Rosalene "Rose" Cole Obituary

Rosalene “Rose” Cole, nee Turnbough, age 95 years, 3 months and 23 days, formerly of Viburnum, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Mari de Villa Senior Living in Town & Country, Missouri.She was born September 22, 1929 in Huzzah, MO to Minus and Lottie (Bays) Turnbough. Rose was united in marriage to Coen “Sonny” Cole on December 22, 1951 in Potosi, MO. Sonny passed away on October 15, 1975.

Rose loved the Lord and attended Freewill Baptist Church in Viburnum, MO for several years while living there. She enjoyed bowling in the local league and golfing all in Viburnum. Rose also loved working in her flower garden throughout the years and taking morning walks each day. She enjoyed going out to eat and attending music concerts with friends in the area. Rose always dressed to perfection wherever she was going.

She never met a stranger and loved being around people and they loved her back.

Rose loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Minus and Lottie Turnbough; her husband of 25 years, Sonny Cole, two brothers, Ken (Helen) Turnbough and Jim Turnbough; sisters, Geneva (Herk) Scott, Dolly (Joe) Dudley and Rowena (Granville) Huitt; and two nephews, Cleo Scott and Gary Turnbough.

She will be sadly missed by her two children, Jan (Bob) Rowe of Wildwood, MO and Dave (Debbie) Cole of Labadie, MO; 4 grandchildren, David (Meghan) Rowe, Ryan (Nichole) Cole, Brad Rowe and Jamie (Mark) Fitzgerald; 6 great-grandchildren, Will and Avery Rowe, Grace and Jonah FitzGerald and Everett and Hudson Cole.; sister-in-law, Opal Turnbough; nephews and nieces, Bruce Turnbough, Mike Turnbough, Jo Ann Jinkerson and Robbin Netemeyer; other relatives; and many friends.

The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025 with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special Music of "What a Day That Will Be" was sung by Bruce Turnbough and Rev. Jerry Beers with Jo Ann Jinkerson accompanied on piano. Other music of "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace" was sung by Bruce and accompanied by Jo Ann on piano.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Shoal Creek Cemetery, Steelville, MO with Rev. Jerry Beers and Bruce Turnbough singing "Go Rest High."

Honored to serve as casket bearers were David Rowe, Brad Rowe, Ryan Cole, Mark FitzGerald, Ken Dayley and Bruce Turnbough with Honorary, Will Rowe, Everett Cole, Hudson Cole and Jonah FitzGerald.
