Sondra Veach Obituary

Sondra Kay Veach, nee Callahan, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in her home at the age of 58 years, 3 months and five days, surrounded by her family. She was born July 8, 1963 to Landis and Alva Conaway Callahan in Cuba, Missouri.

On April 4, 2004, Sondra was united in marriage to Johnny Veach and together they made their first home in Cuba.

Sondra was a CNA and was employed at Gibbs Care Center for several years. She loved to sing and play her guitar. She enjoyed going to auctions when she had the chance. Most of all she loved her family and being with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Landis and Alva Callahan; son, Myron Garms; brother, Sam Callahan; two sisters, Fern Callahan and Sylvia (Raymond) Stroup; brothers-in-law, Don Nickolson, Lindell Thompson, Gerry Reed and Dennis Simpson.

She will be sadly missed by her husband of seventeen years, Johnny Veach of Steelville, MO; three sons, Michael (Abby) Garms of Cuba, MO, Preston (Brittney) Veach of Gainesville, MO and Matt Garms of Pacific, MO; two daughters, Miranda (Michael) Davis and Mindy (Jared) Gillam all of Steelville, MO; one brother, Steve Callahan of Viburnum, MO; five sisters, Anita Bridgeman of Steelville, MO, Cathy (Dwayne) Brown of Cherryville, MO, Sharon Thompson of St. Clair, MO, Patricia Reed of Pacific, MO and Sheila Simpson and friend Bob Harris of Cuba, MO; one sister-in-law, Lillie Callahan of Cuba, MO; eighteen grandchildren, Chaise Garms, Timothy Ryerson, Kaylee (Michael) Steele, Emily, Rebecca, Hannah and Eve Gillam, Gabby, Hayden, Jerrick and Millie Garms, Dusty Davis, Lucas, Lance, and Lane Davis, Kohen, Arabella and Emma Veach; one great-granddaughter, Maya Steele; nieces, nephews; other relatives; and friends.

The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Center Ridge Pentecostal Church in Davisville, MO.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Center Ridge Pentecostal Church in Davisville, MO with Pastor Harrison Brown officiating. Special music of "When the Grass Grows Over Me", "Eagle When She Flies", "Jealous of the Angels" and "Help Me Say Good by" was played.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Martin-Trask Cemetery, Cherryville, MO. Special music of "Let's Walk This Last Mile Together" was sung by Bob and Carol Coleman.

Honored to be casket bearers were Jody Brown, Chad Barton, Brad Thompson, Ben Callahan, Mike Sherman and Joe Parrett with honorary bearers Jared Gillam, Mike Davis and Preston Veach.

Memorials may be given to the funeral home for funeral expenses.

The Veach Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
