Thomas “Tom” Miles Hunter of Davisville, Missouri passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 in Washington, Missouri at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 2 days. He was born August 7, 1939 in Moline, IL to Wilbur Miles Hunter and Rose Vandevelde Hunter. Tom was united in marriage to Illene Hardi in Milan, Illinois on January 10, 1959 and to this union they raised three sons and three daughters.
Tom was employed as General Manager of Wickes Furniture in St. Louis for many years. Since living in this area, he worked for the Crawford County Assessor’s office. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and had been a member of the Jaycee’s in Moline for a number of years. Tom enjoyed rebuilding old sports cars, such as MG’s, woodworking and taking care of his lawn. He also enjoyed remodeling houses.
He was preceded in death by parents, Wilbur and Rose Hunter; and four brothers, James, Richard, Jon and Robert Hunter;
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Illene Hunter of Davisville, MO; three sons, Scott (Kelly) Hunter of Barnhart, MO, Stephen Hunter of O’Fallon, MO and Stanley Hunter of Chicago, IL; three daughters, Stephanie (Scott) Eissler of St. Charles, MO, Suzanne (Robert) Doherty of Salem, MO and Sheila (Leroy) Heckemeyer of St. Elizabeth, MO; one sister, Joyce (William) Michel of Cincinnati, OH; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; other relatives; and friends.
The Family received friends from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. The Family requests that everyone please wear a mask.
The Family chose cremation as the final disposition.
