Vernon Lamkey Obituary

Vernon "Sonny" Henry Lamkey, age 78 years, 4 months and 5 days, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 in Sullivan, Missouri. He was born August 15, 1942 in Potosi, Missouri to Vernon Clarence and Lena Pearl Lamkey. On November 22, 1969 in Sullivan, Sonny was united in marriage to Bonnie Studdard and to this union they raised three daughters.

Sonny was employed at Pea Ridge Mines for several years and later at Wallis Oil Co.

He attended Evangelical Holiness Church in Cuba and for a few years before had attended Center Ridge Church in Davisville. Sonny loved music whether singing or listening to the Golden Oldies. He enjoyed working with wood and had built a railroad car a few years back with hopes of getting it to run on a track.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Lena Lamkey; and one sister, Evelyn Lamkey.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Bonnie Lamkey of Cuba, MO; three daughters, Pamela (John) Osick of Sullivan, MO and Rebecca (Bill) Fritz of Richland, MO and Samantha Janes and companion Richard Wills of Steelville, MO; one sister, Linda (Bill) Donaldson of Branson, MO; six grandchildren, Tabatha (Josh) Wehmeyer and Benjamin (Cyndi) Hansel of Sullivan, MO, Janelle Rust and Johnny Rust and companion, Emily Krebbs of Potosi, MO, Natalie Davis of Bourbon, MO and LeAnn Renick and companion Anthony of Potosi, MO; four great-grandchildren, Skylas, Tyler, Lane and Carter; other relatives; and friends.

The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2020 with Pastor Don Mitchell and Pastor Harrison Brown officiating. Special music of "O'Holy Night was sung by a daughter, Samantha Janes with Angie Turnbough accompaning on piano. Other music of "Far Side of Jordan", "Precious Memories" and "When We all get to Heaven" was sung by Bob and Carol Coleman. The service was Live streamed on the Facebook page of Britton-Bennett Funeral Home.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Reedville Cemetery, Sullivan, MO. Honored to be casket bearers were John Rust, Janell Rust, Bill Fritz, Richard Wills, John Osick and Josh Wehmeyer.

Memorials may be given to the Family for funeral expenses.

The Lamkey Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home.
