Virvine "Virv", George Ware of Cherryville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026 in St. Louis at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 2 days. He was born December 5, 1945 in Lincoln, IL to Franklin Ware and Fannie Lea Ware.
Virv was united in marriage to Ruth “Bonnie” Ahlheim and to this union three children were born. He later married Martha Ann Strowmatt in 1997.
He was employed at AMAX for 18 years and later worked for the Flying J Service Station where he retired after 13 years. Virv enjoyed living on the farm where he enjoyed fishing and deer hunting from his truck drinking his coffee and eating an Almond Joy or a Mounds bar. He loved watching old westerns, especially Gunsmoke, and spent many hours watching the St. Louis Cardinals whether winning or losing. On Sunday’s, Virv also enjoyed watching any gospel singing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Fannie Ware; his wife, Martha Ann Ware; two brothers, Curtis (Grace) Ware and Leonard Ware; and one grandson Scott.
Virv will be lovingly remembered by his children, Rebecca Kay (Michael) Stricklin of Arnold, MO, Rodney Ware of Cherryville, MO and Laura Ware of Ash Grove, MO; Step-children, Lori, Rhonda and Geanie; grandchildren, Ashley, Kara (Zac), Leslie, Christopher, Chase, Viola, Kayle, Malia and Alicia; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Judy Loveless of Cuba, MO, Bill (Marilyn) Ware of Steelville, MO and Loyd (Jackie) Ware of Cherryville, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives; and friends.
The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "Go Rest High", "Daddy's Hands" and "Lead Me Home" was played.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Ware Family Farm Cemetery, Cherryville, MO.
Honored to be casket bearers were Shawn Ware, Chance Reeves, Curtis Lee Ware, Chase Ware, Scot Ware and Randy Ware with Ricky Watts as honorary.
The Ware Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Virv’s name to the American Heart Association, Memorial Program, 460 North Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63141
