Walter “Walt” Harry Brickey, age 81 years, 3 months and 4 days of Davisville, Missouri passed away Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Steelville Senior Living. He was born November 19, 1938 in Berryman, Missouri to Harry and May Fitzwater Brickey.
Walt served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He was a fifty year member of the Eagles Club in Viburnum. Walt had attended the Lost Creek Baptist Church and was baptized in that faith many years ago. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, making wine and gardening. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and May Brickey; infant brother, Eudell Brickey; and two sisters, Loretta (Donald) Essmyer and Sarah Louise (Otis Ray) Free.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of thirty-eight years, Mima Brickey of Davisville, MO; one son, “Bud” Brickey of Belgrade, MO; three daughters, Donna Sue Brickey of Potosi, MO, Amanda Nash of Farmington, MO and Sharon Sanders of Opelika, AL; two step-sons, Terry (Nickie) Gibson and Warren Dale Gibson all of Potosi, MO; two step-daughters, Leatha (Darrell) Pierce and Brenda Gibson all of Viburnum, MO; fifteen grandchildren, Blake, Gabriel, Kelsey, Thomas, Justin, Chad, Seth, Eric Shane, Isaiah, Taylor, Kyle, Kaysie, Emily, Debbie and Michael; twenty-one great-grandchildren; other relatives; and friends.
The Family received friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of “Amazing Grace, My chains are gone” and “In the Garden” was sung by Sis McPherson and Emily Barton with Mandy Cason on piano.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Czar Cemetery, Viburnum, MO.
Honored to be casket bearers were Blake Gibson, Gabriel Gibson, Thomas Keith, Chad Gibson, Eric Shane Streckfus and Seth Gibson with Kyle Brickey, Michael Christopher, Isaiah Gibson and John Maness as honorary.
