Wanda Lou Ransom, nee Martin, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 in Steelville Senior Living at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 6 days. She was born February 22, 1942 in Cherryville, Missouri to Kenneth Martin and Delma Alexander Martin.
She was united in marriage to Dewayne “Murf” Ransom on March 25, 1961 and two sons were born to this union.
Wanda was employed at Steelville Telephone as a clerk for 31 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of Steelville First Baptist and was the church organist for many years. Wanda enjoyed taking care of her flowers outside, watching game shows and the “Waltons” and going for car rides. Her sons loved reminiscing about their mother teaching them to drive and how to burn some rubber.
Most of all, Wanda loved her sons, grandchildren and all of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Delma Martin; brother, Jerry Martin and two infant brothers; and one sister, Twyla Martin.
She will be dearly missed by her two sons, Chris (Alisha) Ransom and Mike (Mary) Ransom all of Steelville, MO; 4 grandchildren, Erica (Justin) Mincks, Erin (Keegan) Callow, Molly (Wes) Greathouse and Michelle (Blake) Schneider; 6 great-grand-children, Fisher, Poppi, Sadie, Owen, Bryar and Ava; sister-in-laws, Luci Martin and Marilyn Ransom both of Steelville, MO ; special friend, Jerry Edgar; other relatives; and many friends.
The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
A Memorial Service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023 with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art" was sung and played on guitar by Rev. Jerry Beers. Special memories were shared by granddaughter, Erin Callow.
An inurnment will be in the Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville, MO at a later date.
