William “Bill” Austin Walker, age 90 years, 10 months and 6 days, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the Steelville Senior Living Center. He was born January 4, 1931 in Steelville, Missouri to James “Jack” Arnold Walker and Zula Amanda Farrar Walker. Bill was united in marriage to Mary Menzel in June of 1956 and to his union they had one son. He later married Dorothy Mae Hinch in October of 1961 and to this marriage a daughter was brought into this union with a son born later in their marriage.
Bill attended the Liberty Methodist Church for several years and later the Assembly of God Church. Bill was a farmer most of his life. He loved to foxhunt with his dogs and enjoyed riding on trail rides for many years. He also enjoyed working his cattle with his son, Kevin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Zula Walker; his wife, Dorothy Walker; daughter-in-law, Lesa Walker; brother, James “Woody” (Edna) Walker; two sisters, Wilma (Fred) McCoy and Betty (Clyde Dunlap) Garms; brothers-in-law, Ed Campbell, (James (Bernice) Decker, Emery (Loretta) Decker and Willard (Maude) Decker; two sisters-in-law, Shirley (Louie) Turner and Edna (Carson) Cassidy.
He is survived by his sons, Kevin Walker of Cook Station, MO and Rick (Jolene) Walker of Hillsboro, MO; daughter, Deborah “Debbie” (Conrad) Culley of Cedar Hill, MO; one sister, Fern Campbell of Steelville, MO; brother-in-law, Jay Garms of St. James, MO; four grandchildren, Chad (Joanne) Walker, Courtney (Ryan) Moreland, Alicia Walker and Ryan Walker; four great-grandchildren, Kevin Overshon, Elecea Evans, Kiarra Evans and Mya Evans; other relatives; and many friends.
The Family received friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 13, 2021 with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "Take my Hand, Precious Lord" and "Go Rest High High" was sung and played on piano by Rev. Jerry Beers. Other music of "Lead Me Home" was played.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery.
Honored to be casket bearers were Ryan Moreland, Conrad Culley, Todd Martin, Caleb Martin and Sonny Martin.
