Martha Caroline Martin-Wright

Martha Caroline Martin-Wright, nee Setzer, 90, of Steelville, MO passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Gibbs Care Center in Steelville. She was born December 15, 1919 in Viburnum, MO to Newton Wesley Setzer and Ida Angeline (Baker) Setzer. She married Fred Martin and to this union three children, Stanley, Ruby and Charlotte were born. Later in 1954, she married Wayne Wright and one son, Joe, was born. He preceded her in death in 1985.

Martha was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cherryville for many years. In her spare time, she loved to play music on the guitar, mandolin and the banjo. She also enjoyed reading and making quilts.

She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Stanley Martin and wife Velma and Joe Wright and wife Lola all of Steelville, MO; two daughters, Ruby Bouse and husband Tom of Cuba, MO and Charlotte Brand of Steelville, MO; one sister, Mary Conaway of Herculaneum, MO; ten grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; five brothers, Howard Setzer and wife Nina, Ray Setzer and wife Freda, Floyd Setzer and wife Ovie, Dellian Setzer and wife Erma and Paul Setzer; four sisters, Mabel Setzer, Margaret Howdeshell and husbands, Dwight Howdeshell and Lloyd Cooksey; Mildred Hogan and husband Harry and Mandy Halbert and husband Carl; and one grandson, Kelly Brand.

Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Jeff Wilson officiating. Special music of "How Great Thou Art", "In the Garden" and "Amazing Grace" was sung by Brad Bouse, Madison Bouse, Sandra Wilson, Adams Wilson and Brittany Wilson with accompaniment by Joyce Bouse on piano. Memories were shared by grand-daughters, Sandra Wilson, Vicky Taff and Phyllis Conaway.

Committal prayer and burial were in the Cherryville Baptist Cemetery at Cherryville, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Kyle Brand, Kenton Brand, Kerry Brand, Tom Bouse, Jr., Brad Bouse, Rick Martin, Carl Baker and J.W. Wright.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
