Mary Ann Baumann, nee Lathrop, of Steelville, MO passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Delmar Gardens in Chesterfield, MO at the age of 81 years. She was born January 19, 1931 in Miles City, MT to Herbert C. Lathrop and Susan Gaines (Flanagan) Lathrop. After graduating from nursing school and becoming a registered nurse, she was united in marriage on June 17, 1952 in Miles City, MT to Dr. Albert R. Baumann. In 1955, she and her husband moved to Steelville where he began his new medical practice and they began their new life in the community.

Mary Ann was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Steelville for over fifty-six years. She was very involved in all aspects of the church from being on the local church board and Arch Diocese of Jefferson City to helping at the Holy Cross School and to her many contributions of time to the convents. She was the Assistant Editor to the Steelville Star for several years, worked as the bookkeeper for her husband, Dr. Baumann,  a 4-H leader,a Boy Scouts Leader besides teaching all of her children to play baseball, basketball and archery. Mary Ann had many hobbies such as coin and stamp collecting, being an avid reader, a wine collector, painting, taking her family to the Fox in St. Louis and to the St. Louis Blues games. She loved life and having fun with her family and has left many wonderful memories for them.

She is survived by her children, Raymond John Baumann and wife Christine of Ellisville, MO, Mary Ann "Honey" Swiney, Herbert Joseph Baumann, Albert Raymond Baumann Jr. and wife Laurie, Michael William Baumann and Vicky all of Ballwin, MO, Theresa Marie Ives and husband Steve of Cuba, MO, David Anthony Baumann and wife Dotty of Manchester, MO, Patrick Joseph Baumann and wife Angela of Eureka, MO and Susan Marie Clonts and husband Michael of Stanton, MO; thirty-three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; special niece, Patti Brath Skinner of Denver, CO; special sister-in-law, Terri Lathrop of Milwaukee, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her  husband Dr. Albert Baumann; one brother Herbert J. Lathrop; and one sister Gaines Susan Lathrop Brath.

The Family received friends from 9:00 A.M. until time of service on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Steelville, MO.

A funeral mass was held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Steelville, MO with Father James Finder as officiate.  Prelude and postlude were played by Deloris Bell. Granddaughter,  Bridget Clonts also played while other granddaughters, Stephanie Crawford and Mary Ann Smith were the vocalists. Serving at the altar were Joe and Jake Howdeshell.

Committal  prayer and interment were in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Cuba, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were the family,  Raymond Baumann, Herbert Baumann, Albert Baumann, Michael Baumann, David Baumann, Patrick Baumann and Steve Ives.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
