Travis Michael Nix

Travis Michael Nix, 17, of Cuba, MO passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in Crawford County. He was born May 6, 1992 in St. Louis, MO to Douglas Edward Nix and Tammie Jo (Turnbough) Nix of Cuba, MO.

Travis loved being outdoors on his four-wheeler, loved dancing, loved being with friends and most of all loved being with his family.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his parents, Doug and Tammie Nix of Cuba, MO; two brothers, Joshua Cole Nix of Cuba, MO and Douglas Edward Nix, Jr. and fiance, Brooke Parks of St. Louis, MO; Grandparents, Geraldine Nix of Harned, KY, Bonnie Caringer of Irvington, KY and Joe and Betty Turnbough of Cherryville, MO; two nephews, Chase Michael Nix and Caden Daniel Nix; one niece, Kirsten Rae Nix; uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Robert Wendell Nix and J.C. Howard; great-grandparents, Roy and Helen Turnbough, Lida and Raymond Harper, Vitula and Bob Drane and Bessie and Robert Nix; great-great-grandparents Litha and Emery Turnbough and Edna Fern; one uncle, Joe Richard Turnbough, Jr.

Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. A poem written by friend Jesse Callahan was read. Special music of "Amazing Grace" was sung by Carol Coleman accompanied by Rev. Bob Coleman on guitar. Other music played was "One Sweet Day", "Go Rest High" and some of Travis' favorite music.

Committal prayer and burial were in the Kinder Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri.

Honored to be casket bearers were Joshua Nix, Douglas Nix Jr., Jesse Callahan, Mike Nix, Chris Caringer, Ryan Robinson, Nick Brashear and Eric Devine and honored to be Honorary casket bearers were Chase Nix, Connor Garret, Jordan Coverdell, Jessie Buehrlen, Cody Cook and Chris Feld.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
