Warren "Sam" Samuel Beck

Warren "Sam" Samuel Beck of Steelville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the St. James Veterans Home at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 4 days. He was born November 13, 1923 in Pine Lawn, Missouri to Vincil Edgar Beck and Pearl Vance Beck. He was united in marriage to Colleen Farrar and to this union one daughter was born. After Colleen's death, he married Earlene King on July 4, 1963 in Steelville and to this marriage one son and one daughter were born.

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945 as a Gunner's Mate on a Destroyer Escort. He was awarded the Victory Medal, the European African Mid East Ribbon with one star, the Asiatic-Pacific and the American Area Ribbon.

Warren had worked at Krogers  and the Steelville Drug for twenty-two years. He was later employed at the Steelville Post Office as a  mail carrier for twenty-three years and retired in 1985.  Warren was a collector of baseball cards and coins throughout his life.

He was a member of the Steelville First Baptist Church and the Steelville VFW and American Legion.

He will be sadly missed by his son, Tom Beck and wife Julie of Union, MO; two daughters, Pat Hall and husband Daniel of Sullivan, MO and Angela Zimmermann and husband John of Rolla, MO; nine grandchildren, Daniel Zimmermann, Rebakah Humphrey and husband Waylon, Kristen Zimmermann, Cody Beck, Tyler Beck, Tami Martin and husband Darrel, Michael Hall and wife Patty, Toni Hill and husband Clyde and Daniel Hall and wife Lisa; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Colleen Beck; his wife, Earlene Beck; two brothers, Edgar Beck, Robert Beck and wife Nancy; sisters, Elsie Matchell and husband George and Pearl "Sissy" Beck; brother-in-law, Wayne King and wife Juanita; and sister-in-law, Wanda Hutson and husband Clifton.

The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "How Great Thou Art", "Because He Lives" and "Go Rest High" was played.

Committal prayer and interment with full military honors by the U.S. Navy, St. James VFW Post 5608 and Patriot Guard were  in the Steelville Cemetery.

Honored to be casket bearers were Tyler Beck, Daniel Zimmermann, Mike Hall, Dan Hall, Cody Beck and Brandon Martin.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
