William "Bill" Ferd Waller of Steelville, Missouri passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 in St. Louis at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 6 days. Bill was born September 26, 1929 in St. Louis to Ferd and Bertha Eaton Waller. In April of 1949, he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Walker and to this union two sons and one daughter was born.

Bill served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He and Betty spent many years as business owners in Steelville. They built and operated the Dairy Isle for seven years and then owned and operated the IGA and Save A Lot grocery stores from 1973 to 1993. He was a member of the Steelville Lebanon Masonic Lodge #77 AF& AM for several years. He and Betty enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. after their retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronald William Waller; two brothers, Glenn Waller and wife Irene and Casey Waller and wife Marie; and two sisters, Gladine Beutell and husband Al and Mary Lee Halbert and husband Carman.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of sixty-nine years, Betty Waller of Steelville, MO; one son, Richard Allen Waller of Steelville, MO; one daughter Mary Sue Smart and husband Dean of Fulton, MO; daughter-in-law, Joe Ann Waller of Steelville, MO; six grandchildren,Chad Waller, Scott Waller and wife Karla, Whitney Waller, Jennifer Glover, Jessica Glover and Jill Davies and husband Joey; seven great-grandchildren, Ty, Isaac, Adah, Liam, Amelia, Finn, Drew and one on the way; other relatives; and friends.

Graveside inurnment services with Full Military Honors by the U.S. Army, VFW Salem Lodge and the Patriot Guard were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Steelville Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of Hank Williams, which was Bill's favorite musician, "I Saw the Light", "I'm So Lonesome I could Cry" and "A House of Gold" was played and sung on guitar by Rev. Jerry Beers.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
